BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - MINISTER of Sports the Hon. Glen Phillip has promised the debacle between local artists and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) over their non-payment of funds for services rendered would be settled this week.

The information which has been circulating for several weeks is that the local acts who made an appearance at a CPL super concert in August, 2014 which was headlined by rap star Rick Ross, have yet to be remunerated.

The most vocal of the artistes is Infamus who - for weeks - has been addressing the issue on social and mainstream media, venting his frustration and even threatening to take legal action.

In an exclusive interview with this publication, Minister Phillip stated that he was aware of the situation and assured that it will be resolved this week.

“I think it has been unfortunate what has happened. Truth be told, Infamus made an agreement with whatever agent of CPL. I am aware of what’s happening…He did all his negotiations with them, however I have spoken to CPL and that will be resolved this week.”

Phillip also stated that he had already contacted the artiste and gave him his assurances that the matter would be dealt with.

“I think there was some mix-up with the agent that he went with and that will be resolved this week. As a matter of fact I spoke to him this morning to assure him his issue will be dealt with.”

SKNVibes also spoke to Dagah – another artiste who performed at the concert – and he revealed he too has yet to be paid. He however informed that he was reassured that the matter would be settled this week.

“I am still yet to be paid but I spoke to a Minister yesterday and he told me I will be paid this week, but if not, it will back to the same old situation.”

The other local acts were the Small Axe Band and the Nu Vybes Band International.
