Presentation to Diabetic Association

Press Release

The ST.Kitts Diabetic Association also known as the SDA, was the recipient of cheque  valued at $1750 EC dollars at a brief presentation ceremony held at the St.Kitts Golf Club House at Frigate bay on Sunday 12th October 2014.

In attendance at this ceremony were The President of the Association, Nurse Christene Wattley, the Treasurer, Ms Merle Liburd and the PRO , Dr.R O'loughlin as well as Golfers both local and regional who participated in a tournament named after Malcolm Callender, former Golf Pro at the Club, who unfortunately passed away earlier in the year as a result of complications associated with this dreaded malady known as Diabetes.

This competition was organized specifically to honor Mr Callender and to make the presentation in his name to an entity working on behalf of Diabetes in ST.Kitts. His dear wife Mrs Callender was on hand to present trophies and awards to winners in the respective categories of the tournament.

President Wattley gave a brief overview of the functioning of the SDA and thanked the members of the Golf Club for this benevolent gesture, which, in her words, would inject some much needed funds to assist with some of the projects planned by the association. The ultimate goal of the SDA being bringing greater awareness about the disease to our residents and highlighting simple things that can be done to avoid some of the well known complications.

Treasurer Ms Merle Liburd ,accepted the cheque on behalf of the SDA from Mrs Christene McEachrane, chairperson of the Golf Club.
