    The 2014 St. Kitts-Nevis –Anguilla National Bank sponsored Department of Sports Schools Football Competition opened with yesterday Wednesday 15th October  at Warner Park Football Stadium with the official opening ceremony. National Bank’s Marketing Manager Mrs. Patricia Wilkenson handed over the sponsorship cheque in the amount of EC$20000 to Hon. Glenn Phillip-Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports to host the competitions. In her remarks to the student-athletes from the various schools Mrs. Wilkenson pledged the banks support to youth development in the Federation through sports and requested of the participants to perform keenly as well as develop their talents and abilities.

     

    Hon. Glenn Phillip in declaring the league open said that his ministry supports initiative that involves youth development and that of physical activity. Phillip said that The Ministry of Sports sees sports as a viable option for young people as and such we shall do our utmost best to provide the platform for their development. The SKNFA President Anthony Johnson gave remarks on behalf of the football governing body and handed over game balls to the Director of Sports Jeffrey Hazel.  Immediately following the conclusion of the opening ceremony Five matches were played.
     
    In Zone 1
    Jabez Dorset 5 goals and one from Shaquan Warner lead Beach Allen Primary to a 6-1 victory over Estridge Primary. Estridge’s lone goal was scored by Joshua Browne.
     
    2013 Finalist Bronte Welsh had a 3nil comfortable win over Dr. William Connor Primary School. Nshande Hughes brace (2goals) supported with a strike from Omarion Rawlins were enough to secure full points for Bronte Welsh.
     
    Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary’s Troy Natta, Ronald Williams and Kvan Wattley’s goals cancelled out Cayon Primary’s Dane Western and Amanor Caesar’s goals for a 3-2 victory.
     
    In Zone 2
    Defending Primary School Champions Tyrell Williams Primary won handsomely over Irishtown Primary 8nil in defense of their title with 4 goals from J’quante Fraser’s, 2 from Caaja Burnham and one each from Ajani Mills and Kassimba Douglas.
    St. Pauls Primary won 5-2 over Violet Petty Primary with a hat-trick from Jahvon Leader and 2 goals by Zaniah Bradshaw. Violet Petty’s goals came from Leon Huggins and Darren Decosta.
     
    Matches continue tomorrow Friday will see
     
    - Maurice Hiller vs Estridge Primary and Cayon vs Dr. William Connor at Patsy Allers Playing Field
    - Edgar T. Morris vs Joshua O Williams and Dean Glasford vs Beach Allen at Taylors
    - Newton Ground Primary vs SKI Academy and George Moody Stuart vs Tyrell Williams in Verchilds
    - Saddlers vs Violet Petty in Ottleys
    - Dieppe Bay vs ICCS and Tucker Clarke vs Irishtown Primary at the Gardens Palying Field
     
    All matches begin promptly at 3:00pm.
