Fantastic Tunda takes swing at Mr. Hype in new track

By: Loshaun Dixon, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SECOND RUNNER-UP in last year’s Groovy Soca Monarch competition Fantastic Tunda has taken aim at the reigning Power Soca Monarch Mr. Hype in one of his recent releases for Sugar Mas 43.

Last weekend, Tunda – as he is affectionately called – released two songs, one titled ‘Mango Season’ and the other, ‘Move Out’.

Speaking with SKNVibes, the artiste, in giving a synopsis of the songs, explained that the latter addresses Mr. Hype’s ‘Wuk It’ tune with which he won the Sugar Mas 42 Power Soca Monarch title.

“Let’s start with Move Out…the guy who won the Power Soca Monarch last year, when he was doing his song that said ‘A had to Wuk it’ and when you look at the fellow behind the lady he wasn’t wukking nobody, he just wiggling he self like a worm. So I decided to do a song and tell him move out and let me jam this thing for you.

Fantastic Tunda explained that his song does not reflect an “enemy thing” but he described it as “a healthy musical battle” noting that if Mr. Hype “is talented enough, we can bounce back”.

He also gave an overview of his second song.

“Have you ever been in a relationship when you and your partner keep falling out and getting back together steady? That is Mango Season, it come and it goes…it come and it goes. Basically, what I am saying is that I don’t want no mango season love. I want something steady.”

Fantastic Thunder also indicated what fans can expect from him for Sugar Mas 43.

“They can expect the normal thing they would ordinarily get from me but at a higher pace. Every year I step a bit closer to where I suppose to be. The same witty controversial things that put a smile on your face, make you want to dance and buy a copy. The ‘Move Out’ song will have the waistline police to tell the fellow Move Out… it’s just a little bit of humor, a little bit of reality and wit.

“I will be doing about five or six tunes. I want to do a little album again, probably this weekend you get one or two more.”

He was then asked if he believes releasing his songs this early would be to his advantage or disadvantage.

“A lot of people take it for granted. They think that because I released early last year and did well, they believe that is what gave me the edge but it is not necessarily that, is what you put in it.

“You have to put in flavor to defy time or your song would be stale by Christmas time. It is not for everybody; I would tell them don’t try this at home.”

Fantastic Tunda captured Second Runner-Up in the Groovy Segment of the Sugar Mas 42 Soca Monarch competition with his popular song ‘Round Up’.
