Road Works In Ballast Bay Completed

    Wednesday, October 22, 2014 - In a continued effort to improve and maintain the road infrastructure in the Territory, the Government of the Virgin Islands through the Ministry of Communications and Works has completed works on Ballast Bay road.

     

    Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE was pleased with the works and said that his Government promised to embark on a series of Road Rehabilitation projects and it has delivered.

    Premier Smith stated, “The series of planned Road Rehabilitation projects will not only create employment, but will result in clear improvements to existing structures, as well as the overall improvement of the standard of living for residents in the Territory, thus fostering a thriving and buoyant economy.”

    The Premier also expressed his satisfaction on the works completed by Autland Heavy Equipment. The project totalling $633,737.32 included the restructuring of a retaining wall as well as repairs to the Ballast Bay road.

    Meanwhile, Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Mark Vanterpool said that it is vital that the road infrastructure in the Territory is kept up-to-date and safe for the residents and visitors. He commended the project contractors on the quality of work as well as the timeliness in which the works were completed on the Ballast Bay road.

     “The road works began in June of this year and are now completed.  Residents in Ballast Bay can now enjoy a smooth resurfaced road. This is just a sample of all the works to be executed throughout the Territory,” he further stated.

    Improving road infrastructure in the Territory is part of Government’s commitment to ensure that the Virgin Islands enjoy the highest standards of internationally acceptable public infrastructure and utilities within its means.

    The Government of the Virgin Islands remains focused on moving the Territory towards stability and growth.
