The Delisle Walwyn Group of Companies Pays Tribute to its former Chairman Kishu Chandiramani

Friday, October 24, 2014The Pediatrics Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS) is pleased to announce that the Delisle Walwyn Group of Companies has made a charitable donation of EC $10,000 to the organization in memory of its recently deceased former Chairman Mr. Kishu Chandiramani.

“A donation in memory of our former Chairman Mr. Kishu Chandiramani to PALS, which is doing extraordinary charitable work in our community, is a fitting and very special way of remembering and celebrating the life of an extraordinary man who throughout his lifetime committed a tremendous amount of time and resources towards improving the community in which he lived, including the health and welfare of the community,” said Mr. Clayton Perkins, Delisle Walwyn’s current Executive Chairman.

As one of St. Kitts’ oldest and most established companies, the Delisle Walwyn Group of Companies has played an active role in the business community with a diverse range of products and services including insurance, shipping, port services, travel, various tourism related businesses, autocare and more. Under Mr. Chandiramani’s leadership, Delisle Walwyn was a longstanding supporter of various charitable organizations, including PALS. While Mr. Chandiramani is no longer with us, Delisle Walwyn considers this to be a great way to continue Mr. Chandiramani’s legacy of donating towards organizations undertaking important charitable work in the community.

The Pediatrics Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS) is a non-profit organization committed to providing better access to essentially needed medical treatment and health care to the children of St. Kitts & Nevis. Donations raised by the community are used directly to pay for overseas medical treatment for children of the Federation at the recommendation of the Head of Pediatrics at the Joseph N. France Hospital and the Department of Social Services.

“PALS works on the belief that financial circumstances shouldn’t dictate whether a child has access to medical care.” said PALS President Giselle Matthews. “We are very grateful for this generous donation from Delisle Walwyn in memory of its former Chairman, Mr. Kishu Chandiramani. His commitment to his community continues to inspire us and acts as a constant reminder that it takes the village to raise a child.”

PALS was first established in St. Kitts in 1991 and for the past 23 years, the members of this organization have quietly committed themselves to raising the funds to ensure that families of ill children have the financial assistance needed to receive urgent medical care. In the past year alone, PALS has assisted 10 families in St. Kitts and Nevis to receive overseas medical treatment. PALS also occasionally donates needed medical equipment to the Pediatrics Ward at the JNF.
