BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE top official from the Carnival Committee is denying rumours that the route for the Grand Carnival Parade had been changed.

Recently, rumours swirled that the Parade would be move to flow along the Kim Collins Highway but those have been struck down by Carnival Chair Sylvester Anthony.

“There will not be any change to the Carnival route to the extent people have been talking about. I want to be clear that the Carnival Committee has always been and will always be receiving ideas and suggestion from stakeholder on how we can improve.”

He however disclosed that the matter was up for discussion but alternative decisions had been taken. One such decision is the possible shift in the point of commencement of the parade.

“The issue of the change of route was a matter that came up for discussion with troupes and the bands who had concerns about the manner the parade had been proceeding… So we were discussing options on how we can improve on the parade.

“So I can announce now that there will not be no route change to the extent of moving the parade but we may make some changes to where the parade starts to allow for much better organization. So at least when we get to Greenland’s area, the troupes would be already pretty-well distributed so people can see the splendour of the costumes.”
