Food Handlers Educational Sessions On Jost Van Dyke November 21

    Tuesday, November 11, 2014 - The Environmental Health Division will be hosting a Food Handlers’ Educational session for residents of Jost Van Dyke next week.  

     

    The sessions will be held at Rudy’s in Great Harbour on November 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Food handlers with invalid certificates are therefore required to attend the session to have them renewed.

    Persons renewing food handler’s certificates are asked to present their expired certificate, work permit and/or picture identification.  Persons seeking to obtain a food handlers certificate for the first time are required to present results of medical screening  for Mantoux (Skin Test) and Parasitic Infestation (stool test) their social security card, work permit or other picture identification and one recent passport size photograph.     

     The Environmental Health Division is also reminding owners/ operators and managers of food businesses as well as food handlers that no person shall engage in the handling of food unless he or she is in possession of a valid food handler’s certificate. Any person handling food without such certificate is in violation of the Public Health Food Hygiene Regulations 1972.

    The Environmental Health Division is committed to ensuring that all aspects of the environment with the potential to negatively impact health are managed efficiently to enable all persons in the BVI to attain and maintain optimal health and social well-being.
