BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE ex-soldier who was found with an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition in Cayon on Friday night (Nov. 14) was charged for the offences and is likely to be refused bail and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until his trial.
A police communiqué issued yesterday (Nov. 17) gave the young man’s name as Gavinya Daniel of Water Works, Cayon and that he was charged with Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
Information reaching SKNVibes stated that whilst patrolling along the Island Main Road in Cayon at approximately 7:30 p.m. on the night in question, police had stopped a young man who was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of De Green Valley Pub.
The officers reportedly conducted a body search of the young man, which resulted in the find of a Beretta Pistol and over a dozen rounds of matching ammunition hidden on his person.
He was arrested and taken to the Basseterre Police Station where the charges were subsequently laid.
