Nearly 23,000 cruise passengers visited for this week from nine ships

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 27th 2014 (CUOPM) – The parade of cruise ships into St. Kitts’ Port Zante continued Thursday with the arrival of two ships.

     

    The berthing of the Aida Bella and the Norwegian Pearl brings the number of ships to nine and the number of cruise passengers to 22,973 for this week.

    Three more cruise ships – the Carnival Valor, the Ventura and Thomson Celebration are scheduled to visit on Friday 28th November.

    Thursday 27th the Aida Bella arrived from Italy with 1,991 passengers and crew of 635, while the Norwegian Pearl with 2,311 passengers and a crew of 1,111 arrived from St. Lucia.

    On Wednesday 26th three ships brought 7,458 passengers. The Celebrity Silhouette brought 3,060 passengers, the Independence of the Seas, 4,200 passengers and the Royal Clipper, 198 passengers.

    Tuesday 25th saw 6,646 cruise passengers on two ships, with 2,836 on the Celebrity Equinox and 3,810 passengers on the Adventure of the Seas.

    Two ships on Monday 24th had on a total of 4,567 passengers. The Celebrity Summit had 2,167 passengers and the Jewel of the Seas, 2,400.

    Most of the 22,973 passengers came ashore on tours via taxis, the St. Kits Scenic Railway and helicopter. Some headed for the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, hiking to Mount Liamigua and to other trails, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.
