BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - MR. BAGNALL topped a list of 17 Soca artistes who participated last night (Dec. 5) in the 2014 TDC Groovy Soca Monarch Semi-Finals held at the Sugar Mill (Carnival City).

The show, which kicked off two hours late at 10:00 p.m. due to persistent rainfall and completed just after 1:00 a.m., saw 17 high-quality performances from the top Soca artistes in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Amassing a total of 197 points, Mr. Bagnall was adjudged winner of the Semi-Finals and, while performing, he had the small crowd singing, dancing and chanting a line from his tune ‘We want the Boss’.

His composition speaks of him being the individual who is in control of Carnival and revellers are under his control as to what they are to do.

The names of the finalists who will be trying to unseat reigning Monarch Delly Ranks were revealed a few minutes after the last performance.

In second position was veteran performer Mr. Mention with 190 points singing ‘Explanation’, and gave an enlightenment as to why individuals are so in love with Carnival. He, too, received a good response from the attendees.

Third was Lady Diva who performed ‘Home Sweet Home’ and totalled 188 points.

Rounding out the top 10 were Foxy, Eazi, Ladonna, Globe ft. DC, Fantastic Tunda, Richie Buntin and Jeezy Sparta, all of whom earned automatic spots in the Finals.

One of the other seven competitors will be given a chance to earn a place in the Finals through text message votes. Those competitors are Stadics, Jazzbo, Ras Kelly, Piece-a-Man, K-Jah, Mighty Chapel and Lady Dru.

The Show was hosted by radio personality EK.

At the same venue, 19 artistes are scheduled to perform tonight in the ZIZ Power Soca Monarch Competition, from which 10 of them will advance to the Finals slated for Friday (Dec. 19).
