Labour is about to rumble…says Party Leader

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PRIME MINISTER the Rt. Hon. Denzil Douglas at a public meeting in St. Paul’s Village on Thursday night (Dec. 4) told his constituents and other party supporters that the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) is about to rumble and those who are seeking to get into Office has to wait for 20 more years.

“When Labour comes to Number Six in this kind of mood, it tells you that Labour is about to rumble. The campaign has been long; some of you might have gotten somewhat tired. Two years we had some hogs, who had tried to bring the Labour Government to an end, but by the grace of God we are still here and we will make them wait.”

The Constituency Six Parliamentary Representative also told his constituents that the ruling Labour Party is within various parts of their body and it would live for generations to come.

“Labour is in your very heart, it’s in your bones, it’s in your veins and your arteries, it’s in your brain. Labour is all over you, and it goes from the elderly to the very youth as well. That’s why they cannot stop Labour. Labour is here forever; and as long as Constituency Six is here Labour will always be alive.”

He proclaimed that it was so because the people of the Federation and supporters of the party stood well behind it.

The Party Leader intoned that God is on Labour’s side even though some individuals had attempted to have his Government removed from Office, while labelling them as ingrates.

“The prayers of our people went up to Almighty God above. He answered our prayers and we are here today, two years after those vagabonds and hypocrites and traitors tried to bring your Government down and want to give it to PAM; with their forwardness. Dirty people they be, wicket people they be after they done suck off Labour breast for 18 years. Suck off Labour breast, eat off all of Labour food and they want to give this party to PAM.

“Tell them Douglas is still here, tell them Douglas is here! There is only one Douglas, that’s me, I am from St. Paul’s. Tell them that.”

Dr. Douglas expressed his gratitude to the people of Constituency Six for continuously electing him as their representative and accused Sam Condor of wanting to give Constituency Three to the People’s Action Movement.

“I want to thank the people of this Constituency, from Harris’, Saddlers, Lavington, Parsons, Dieppe Bay, Pogson and St. Paul’s and Newton Ground. Because of you this Constituency has remained strong. The Movement has remained strong. Remember the word focus…always do. Six and Number Three…and Sam Condor with his forwardness wants to give Number three to PAM; and calling young Cedric an idiot. Who is more idiot than he?”

Exuding an aura of confidence and invincibility on the political platform, Dr. Douglas told his supporters that the Opposition could not beat the Labour Party in the upcoming election and, to date, they have not found anyone to run against him in that Constituency.

“I want to say to you that they can’t beat us. They can’t even find nobody down here to run against me,” he asserted. And in a jocular manner added, “And you know what, since nobody is to run against me down here, allu spread out, spread out. Only one man must leave, one man must leave, make sure I get it and I win. Allu spread out, spread out, spread out.”

He claimed that the Opposition is comprised of jokers who want to govern the Federation and do not know how to do it.

Dr. Douglas told his audience that the SKNLP is going to have another five years and another one after that, adding that the party is looking at 20 more years in Office.

He told the gathering that the main reason for the meeting in that Constituency was to speak about next Tuesday’s Budget Presentation and how his Administration intends to solve problems.

“Comrades, that is why we are here in this series of meetings, the pre-Budget meetings, to explain to you how Labour has not only tackled the present problems, but how in this new Budget we shall set the tone, the pace. We shall outline the way for not only next year, 2015, but for the next five years as well.

‘And so tonight my dear comrades, I want you to understand that we shall continue to ensure that Labour progresses this country. The progress will continue in the new Budget and will set the tone for the next five years.”

The Prime Minister stated that Labour would continue to have fundamental changes as it did in the past and advised that people must be able to adapt and change whenever challenges arise.

He declared that unlike the Opposition, his Government has the ability and experience to successfully combat any challenge aimed at hindering progress in the country.

“That is why we are saying, and I want the children in school to say it every day, real progress, real change.”

The Prime Minister stated that his Government was able to respond to past challenges that the nation faced, and evidence lies in the reduction of the national debt.

“Three years ago our national debt was 200 percent of GDP…those vagabonds going around and saying that it is the highest national debt in the world. Remember what I told you all last election? I told you all that national debt was not going to be an issue in the next election. Today, the Central Bank of the Eastern Caribbean has declared that St. Kitts and Nevis is the only country in the Eastern Caribbean that has set its debt on a path to achieve 60 percent of GDP by 2020. Not one of them can touch us!

And so the same national debt that they are talking about, what happened to it? It gone, poof, poof it gone! Number one in tackling debt not only in St. Kitts and Nevis but around the world.”

Dr. Douglas reminded listeners about the time when he was called upon to advise his counterparts on how to reduce their national debts.

“The Commonwealth of Nations has taken me around the world to speak to other nations as to how to tackle their national debts. And you know why that is happening? Because we know what we are doing, and when a man good he’s just good.”

He emphatically stated that St. Kitts and Nevis is now number one in many different ways. And briefly touching on the recent visa issue, he said, “Then you have these jokers last week, because of the Canadian visa matter, come calling down St. Kitts and Nevis, talking all kinds of bad things about St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Dr. Douglas advised his constituents not to bother with what they are saying because “we are number one and we shall remain number one”, to which the crowd reacted with loud cheers.
