BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LIME, the premier sponsors of the National Carnival, handed over a cheque of $150 000 to the National Carnival Committee as their package for Sugar Mas 43.
In a handing over ceremony held yesterday (Dec. 5) at the communications’ giant headquarters, General Manager David Lake described his company’s sponsorship of Sugar Mas as one very dear.
“Today it give me great pleasure as the General Manager of LIME St. Kitts and Nevis to present this check to my friend and partner Mr. Anthony, who is the Chairman of National Carnival Committee. LIME has been partnering with Carnival for many years. It is one of our most significant sponsorships during the year and is one that we treasure and hold very dear.”
He also hailed the Chairman’s leadership and the advances he has made since taking over the reins of the Committee.
“I would like to congratulate the Carnival Committee. I think under the leadership of Sylvester Anthony we have seen a lot of innovation and we have seen a lot of growth in the Carnival product that everyone could agree that Carnival is growing from strength to strength.
“For us, Carnival is not just about merrymaking, even though that is very important, we see it as the perseveration of our culture and we think that is very important in these times as part of our national identity. Carnival is a lot more than it is; it is also a vehicle for promoting our destination. It is one of the highlights of our tourist season and attracts a lot of tourist.”
In response, Anthony stated that the donation was an indication of LIME’s commitment to Carnival.
“It is for me a distinct pleasure on behalf of the National Carnival Committee to accept this cheque of $150 000 from Lime. I think the financial support from LIME speaks loudly of LIME’s commitment to Carnival. Lime has been a reliable and committed partner to Carnival.”
He then called on other business entities to follow LIME’s example.
“They have provided the example for all other sponsors, and we encourage other sponsors to be as reliable and as generous as LIME has been over the years.”
