BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - EIGHT-time Road March winners Grand Masters Band this evening (Dec. 10) will be launching their album for Sugar Mas 43 entitled ‘Yes’.

In an exclusive interview with SKNVibes, band leader Wingrove Hicks gave some details of the album.

“The name of this year’s album is ‘Yes’. There are six tracks on the album and a party mix. The title track is ‘Yes’ and it is also the song we would be pushing for Road March. We have other tracks like ‘Defend’, ‘Just Flick It’, ‘Water Break’, ‘6:30’ and ‘Shake you Bumpa’.”

He also indicated what fans could expect from the Grand Masters Band during the Carnival period.

“We are coming in our usual hot, spicy, groovy carnival mood. Win or lose we are always confident and we do not complain. If we win we celebrate, if we lose we get up wash off and prepare to come again.”

Hicks was then asked to explain what the title track ‘Yes’ would entail, but indicated he prefers the fans to wait and be surprised of the story to be told.

“I prefer to surprise the audience because everyone is wondering ‘Yes’ and what they could relate ‘Yes’ to, what sort of story and, as you know, whenever Smiley composes he always compose a story. All his songs tell a story, so you get a realistic story, a life story.”

The album is expected to be launched this evening at 9:00 p.m. on ZIZ and Hicks stated that CDs would be available during the launch and also at Tony Berry, Mick Heyliger on Fort Street and the BCA.

He also hailed the other bands and artistes who have released songs for Sugar Mas thus far and called on the public to support them.

“What I would like to do is congratulate all of the bands which have released so far. It is all in the spirit of Carnival! Everybody has been working hard, and without the bands and artistes Carnival would not be what it is. I need to urge the public to give all artistes their fullest support.”
