Bar crawl packed with mas and revelry

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HAIR down, drinks up, music pumping and the tone was more than set yesterday afternoon (Dec. 13) when the first Sugar Mas 43 Island-wide Bar Crawl made its way through the land.

The Bar Crawl started shortly after 12:00 p.m. on the Bay Road opposite RAMS with DJs EK The Real Right and Ronnie Rascal along with five safari trucks on which persons wishing to participate in the event could be transported.

The procession headed east along the Island’s Main Road and made its first stop in Conaree where revelers disembarked the trucks and jammed at a bar there for about 15 minutes before boarding the vehicles again and heading to Keys Village where there was a repeat occurrence.

The Grand Masters Band ‘tun up de place’ when the Bar Crawl got to Cayon and moved the crowd for about 30 minutes before it was time to move again.

The event began with a moderate crowd and as it progressed, patrons from around the island joined the fun.

The fourth stop was in Molyneaux, just outside Fraites Supermarket, and after leaving that spot space on each vehicle was minimal with some individuals even resorting to hanging on the sides and rears of the trucks just to get in on the action.

Stops were also made in Mansion, Saddlers, Dieppe Bay and the Kollision Band joined the action in Sandy Point. The band seemed to have pleased the residents of that area because they were obviously disappointed when the Bar Crawl progressed into other villages.

The penultimate stop was made in Old Road where the large crowd was left wanting more after the Small Axe Band brought their flavor to the event.

It climaxed at the Sugar Mill with Nu Vybes which rocked and entertained the revelers until around midnight.

Also as part of the event were about 12 young men on bicycles, while some motorcyclists joined the action along the route.

The second and final Island-wide Bar Crawl for the Sugar Mas 43 season is scheduled for January, 3, 2015.
