BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A male resident of West Farm has been the latest individual to have been charged with a gun-related crime in St. Kitts.

A police release stated that Jermaine Hanley, alias ‘Dappa Youth’, was recently arrested and charged for attempting to murder Uzaljavan Ashkenazi Crosse of Challengers Village on Saturday, December 20, 2014.

On the day of the incident, police told SKNVibes that initial investigations revealed that the popular local entertainer, who goes by the moniker ‘Ashkenaz’, was allegedly attacked by an unknown assailant while in the West Farm Mountain area.

The police further stated that after being shot, Crosse went to a friend’s house and from there was transported to the JNF Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

This is not the first time that Hanley had brushes with the law.

According to a police release, on Monday, June 25, 2007 Hanley had appeared at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court charged with Aggravated Assault.

He was convicted and sentenced to serve four months imprisonment with hard labour and was also placed on a bond with the condition of avoiding contact with the complainant in the case, keeping at least 100 feet from her for the next two years, or in default would have had to serve two months imprisonment.
