The Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris has rubbished comments made by Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas when he declared that he is not a violent person and that he defends his nation with passion.

Dr. Harris was one of the individuals who vehemently spoke out against the Prime Minister’s comments made on the political platform about death and wounding.

“A non-violent man does not express violent tendencies or words. Mahatma Gandhi was always talking peace and doing peace. None of the civil rights leaders who were advocating for peace would you hear them talk the violent talk. The two can’t go together. If you are peaceful, your expression, your demeanor, everything would reflect that,” Dr. Harris expressed during a recent interview with SKNVibes.

Dr. Harris said this is not the first time that the Prime Minister has used offensive language.

“You can’t be peaceful and be inciting! And you must bear in mind that this is not the first set of offensive statements he has made. We must bear in mind that he boasted that he has the capacity to incite and that he infact incited in ’93. He said those things publicly! This is his modus operandi.”

The Unity Leader accused Dr. Douglas, leader of the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, of resorting to violence tendencies when rational arguments fail him.

“When he fails with the rational argument, he resorts to violence and incites violent tendencies and behaviours. He is not known to be one that abides or complies with the laws of the land or the Constitution. And it is the laws of the land and Constitution that define the civil action, the civility of the society, and if you are not going to acknowledge them then you are going to, as it were, be behaving in illegal and lawless ways.”
