Nation called to Day of Prayer and Fasting

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE nation of St. Christopher and Nevis has been called to a Day of Prayer and Fasting as it heads into General Elections which would be held within a matter of days.

The call was made by the Joint Assembly of National Church Organisations (the St. Kitts Evangelical Association and the St. Kitts Christian Council) and, according to a release, the exercise “seeks to petition for God’s divine guidance and intervention in the affairs of our nation during this time of our General Elections”.

President of the Evangelical Association Bishop Ron Collins told SKNVibes the day is necessary because there is need for all to progress “smoothly and well and that the Federation would settle down”, especially in light of recent happenings surrounding the process of elections.

The official service would be held at the St. George’s Anglican Church today (Feb. 10) at 6:00 p.m. under the theme “Investing in Hope...Transforming our Nation Through Prayer!”

Bishop Collins informed that Pastor Sylvester Herbert would deliver a short word during the event and different pastors would be praying for different aspects of the nation.

That event begins this evening but Bishop Collins said it is a full day of prayer and fasting and he is asking the Christian community as well as other members of the public to earnestly seek the face of God during this time and pray that His peace would rest upon the Federation.

He is also asking the pastors make arrangements to have their churches available for persons who would want to go there and pray throughout the course of the day.
