Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 19, 2015 (SKNIS): All Government employees including People’s Employment Programme (PEP) Workers are encouraged to exercise patience and understanding during this time of transition of the new Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Chief Personnel Officer in the Human Resource Management Office, Mrs. Tofrida Rochester has assured that no workers have been laid off.

“Well from the Human Resource Office there has been no indication to anyone that he or she has been terminated, fired, released or anything of the sort,” Mrs. Rochester explained.  “So to the best of my knowledge, as the Chief Personnel Officer, no Civil Servant has been sent home in a permanent fashion.”

Similarly, Director of the People’s Employment Programme (PEP), Geoffrey Hanley has confirmed that no PEP workers have been sent home.

“As we embrace the change and the new Government, I am pleased to announce to the participants in the PEP programme that work continues as usual,” Mr. Hanley outlined.  “There is no dismissal of any PEP worker, at least to my knowledge at this present moment.  So I am encouraging all of them to make sure that they go to work on time and to be as professional as they ought to be.  And any further instructions I would be more than willing to share it with the PEP population.”

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis assures the general public that it is going about the business of the people and requests the prayers and cooperation of the residents of the Federation during this time of transition.
