BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH detailed results of the February 16 General Elections still pending and members of the local and regional community still calling for their ventilation, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has instructed his Attorney-General to “deal with the matter”.

“It is a matter of national interest! I have advised the Attorney-General to pursue that matter with diligence, and I am hoping that before the week is out the country’s concerns would be put to rest in terms of certified outcomes determined by the Supervisor of Elections.”

The Federal Elections were held on February 16, 2015 and results did not begin rolling in until sometime after 11:00 p.m. with a steady flow of information up until sometime after 3:00 a.m. the next morning when Supervisor of Elections Wingrove George had announced that dissemination of results had been suspended.

Calls were made by local and regional individuals as well as organisations for George to complete his responsibilities expeditiously. However, it was not until 5:00 p.m. on February 17 that the winners of the various seats were declared.

The wide and vague declaration has left a void, because in some instances the performance of candidates at the various polling stations has still not been revealed.

Prime Minister Harris said he had asked Attorney-General Vincent Byron to move quickly to have the matter addressed.

“That is a matter of priority of course. There has been a serious void, a serious deficiency in the management of the election process in this election, and so appropriate action will be taken because there are significant issues involved there. I’ve asked the Attorney-General to handle that matter with certain expedition.”

Dr. Harris told SKNVibes that up until the time of the interview he had not seen or heard from the Supervisor of Elections.
