BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 27th, 2015 - From 17 schools which participated at the Preliminary stage; then from eight competing teams in the Semifinals, five schools have advanced to the Final stage of this year’s Primary Schools Quiz, which will take place on Tuesday 3 March at the Anglican Church Hall, Victoria Road, Basseterre.
These are:
Estridge Primary
George Moody Stuart (last year’s champion
Newton Ground Primary
Seventh Day Adventist
SKI Academy
Each team, comprising two students, will field questions based upon the Social Studies syllabus, drawn from the geography, history, civics and culture and sports of St. Kitts and Nevis as well as, in the Final, from Caribbean affairs.
The Primary Schools Quiz is part of the annual History and Heritage Month (February-March) organized by the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society in partnership with the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society, St. Christopher National Trust, UWI Open Campus, Departments of Education and Community Affairs, CFBC Culture Club and other agencies and individuals.
Other activities will include: the Heritage Hike on Saturday 28 February, Senior Citizens Social Evening on Sunday 1 March, Culture Fair at CFBC on Thursday 12 March, as well as ‘Culture Yard’ on the grounds of the Alexander Hamilton Museum on Friday 27 February.
Meanwhile, the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society is preparing to celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a number of events commencing in April, the anniversary month of its establishment.
