Graphic video shows WAHS student beating another

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DISGUST may be too mild a word, but many people, especially parents, are outraged over an incident that was captured on video and has gone viral showing a male student brutally beating his female counterpart in the environs of the school they both attend.

The students, SKNVibes understands, are from the Washington Archibald High School (WAHS) and information indicates that the incident took place at the learning institution’s Fifth Form block.

The graphic six-second video shows the female on the ground and the male on top of her punching her, while other students stood by and observed. During the occurrence, the female could be seen flinging her hands wildly about appearing to try and deal some blows of her own.

The video also shows that the male ended his attack after planting his foot in the girl’s face which left her motionless.

This publication has been reliably informed that the incident occurred earlier this week during the lunch break. And according to an eyewitness who indicated that they did not see the entire incident, they saw the male - a Third Form student - body-slammed the Fifth Former to the ground and unleashed a series of blows to her body, especially to the head and face.

SKNVibes understands that the principal of the school, as well as the school’s security personnel, were called to the area following the incident.

This publication was reliably informed that a unit of the Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to the school and transported the girl to the hospital.

A parent, whose child attends the same school, told SKNVibes that she saw the video and was outraged by it. She said she would have thought that if the “boy had a problem he should have gone to a teacher or asked some other adult for help, rather than brutalising the girl like that”.

Another parent said he is deeply troubled by what he saw on the video and indicated that he shudders to think of what he might have done if it were his daughter who was attacked.

“We send our children to school every day expecting that they would return home with knowledge, not cuts and bruises and awful experiences of being beaten senselessly. Something needs to be done about this!” another parent exclaimed.

“I think we really need to find out what happened to provoke such an attack. But even if that is found out I still cannot understand what it is that this girl could have done to warrant such a beating,” a mother told this publication.

SKNVibes contacted Minister of Education the Hon. Shawn K. Richards about the video and he indicated that because he had not yet seen it he could not make a comment. He however promised that once he sees it he would respond appropriately.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF'S NOTE: Due to the violent nature of the video, SKNVibes has decided not to publish any aspect of it.
