Former PM threatens lawsuit over FB posts

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FORMER Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has threatened to sue two individuals for posts carried on popular social medium Facebook and has warned that if an apology is not forthcoming, along with compensation, he would advance with the suit.

    SKNVibes understands that Dr. Douglas has written to Jermaine Lake, brother-in-law of Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, and lawyer Rivi Warner-Lake indicating that specific of their posts on Facebook are scandalous and damaging to his reputation. 

    Information which has reached this publication suggests that specific to one of the letters, dated March 19, 2015, the date of delivery was March 23, 2015.

    It also states that the recipient has a 48-hour period in which to respond.

    One of the Facebook posts, SKNVibes understands, concerns Dr. Douglas’ United States-issued visa and its revocation.

    This publication understands that according to the letter, Dr. Douglas has been defamed by the Facebook posts and the recipient is asked to, in addition to responding within 48 hours, agree to pay compensation of $300 000 and $35 000 plus VAT in lawyer fees.

    It is likely that the recipients of the letters would respond by tomorrow (Mar. 25), having received it yesterday.
