By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SOME comment on articles, some express their views via radio talk shows and others lend to public debate via self-penned commentaries. But one calypsonian has chosen to express his message of warning, encouragement and congratulations to the newly-formed Team Unity Government through his art form.

Felix Redmill, popularly known as ‘Lord Felix’, recently released a calypso titled ‘Message for Team Unity’ cataloging his sentiments on Team Unity’s recent ascension to political power.

He opened the piece with a congratulatory message and moved very quickly into outlining the seriousness of the task which the new government has in its bid to propel the country forward.

Congratulations Unity we give you the authority
To govern for this country’s sake.
You got five years ah wuk an’ we aine mekkig joke
We goin’ measure every step that you take

So come now Unity, listen to me Timothy
    Don’t forget wah you say
You promise us honesty, you guarantee integrity
So truth is we standard all de way

The five-stanza song, expressed that it is time for Team Unity to practice what it preached during its election campaign and implored them not to get distracted but to hold fast to its duties.

It also reminded the government that there is need for reformation of the Constitution to guard against delays in the tabling and debating of Motions of No Confidence should they arise in the future.

Lord Felix called for transparency and the abolition of nepotism while warning against corruption and partisan mindsets and practices.
