Christophe Harbour Making Waves

Yachts docked at Christophe Harbour
By: SKNIS, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 26, 2015 (SKNIS): The addition of Christophe Harbour as part of St. Kitts and Nevis’ tourism product has proved to be successful as approximately 150 yachts have docked at its berths since its opening on February 14, 2015.

This marks a significant milestone for St. Kitts as it ventures into the high-end yachting industry. Also significant is the 20 percent growth in the yachting industry for three years running.

CEO of Christophe Harbour Development Company Buddy Darby said the word is spreading in the yachting community that Christophe Harbour is an ideal place to dock.

“It’s kind of exciting to see this kind of business coming to the Federation quickly,” said Mr. Darby.  “Hopefully it will continue to spread by this time (March) next year and have a full marina every night.”

Minister of Tourism the Hon. Lindsay Grant shared his thoughts on the marina.

“The marina will add a new dimension to our tourism product,” the tourism minister said. “It’s one that we welcome.”

It is projected that Christophe Harbour will also be beneficial to the Federation as a number of jobs such as repair work, electrical engineering support and varnishing work will be created for locals.

It has been reported that with St. Kitts as the base, yachts have made their way to neighbouring countries such as St. Barts, Nevis and Montserrat.

Twenty-four berths which range from 150 feet to 200 feet have already been established. In the future there will be around 250 slips installed.

Other features of Christophe Harbour include SALT Plage waterfront bar, Pavilion restaurant and a number of Villas.
