Family wins flat screen, fridge, microwave at Black San’ Games Night

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH their game faces on, their competitive spirit in full swing and motivated to the core, participants in and spectators of the Spirit Game Show Night set themselves at the Sandy Point Court last evening (Apr. 2) for a night of fun, laughter and clean competition.

Over the years, the event has become one of the most highly anticipated events on the Black San’ calendar because, as a perk to the fun, it offers opportunities to audience members to win a variety of prizes.

The RAM’S and S. L. Horsford’s-sponsored event got off to a late start but that was not enough to thwart the plans of gameshow hilarity.

As each patron entered the compound, they were given a numbered sticker which they were instructed to place on a prominent part of their blouse or shirt.

Host of the event Jason Davis took the audience through two rounds of competition. The first, which was sponsored by RAM’S Trading Ltd., being The Price is Right and Family Feud which was sponsored by S. L. Horsford’s.

    The Price is Right

Contestants for the various games were selected after their numbers were generated via computer. While some did not display much enthusiasm when their number was called, others ran frantically from their seats, screaming with both hands flung into the air with excitement.

After about five contestants would have been selected, they were required to guess the price of a particular grocery item and the person who came the closest would advance to play one of the auxiliary games, which included Swap Meet, Punch a Bunch and Plinco.

The games challenged the participants’ knowledge and memory of retail prices at the popular retail and wholesale company and correct guessing of prizes resulted in them walking away with the grocery goodies. In some cases, baskets of goods valuing as much as $245 were won.

Sandy Point’s Brenda ‘Queen B’ Williams was the overall winner of that segment.

    Family Feud

Normally, the team members are required to be related by blood but, this year, provision was made for friends to participate.

This game is always generally exciting but what made it even more so was the prospect of winning a 22-inch flat screen television, a microwave and a refrigerator.

With four teams assembled, two of them faced off with the two remaining teams, and at the end of that round the Demmings and the Pick-Ups advanced to the next round of competition.

The families were asked to provide answers that they believe the 100 individuals surveyed on the various questions would have provided.

The Pick-Ups were successful in that round and advanced to the Fast Money Round where they were also successful and left the competition with all three of the prizes.

Host Davis said he loves the concept of the show, describing it as fresh, family-friendly and fun. He said the event was a success and that he particularly enjoyed the participatory aspect of it.

Davis also said that SPIRIT and energy were the order of the evening.
