BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – APPROXIMATELY 11 individuals who were travelling aboard a motor pickup that overturned and collided with a tree this evening (Apr. 6) have been transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, and information suggests that one of them had died.

The accident took place shortly before 7:00 p.m. along Johnson Long Path, which is the stretch of the Island Main Road running west of the Mattingley Heights area.

SKNVibes understands that the vehicle, P6167, was travelling from Basseterre towards Boyds’ direction when difficulty was encountered and it overturned before colliding with the tree.

The people in the lorry portion of the vehicle were reportedly flung from it.

The Emergency Medical Services and the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services Department were called to the scene to provide assistance, and the occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Joseph N. France Hospital for treatment.

SKNVibes understands that private vehicles may have also been used in transporting some of them to the Hospital.

SKNVibes was able to confirm that one individual has lost their life as a result of the accident; however, no name has yet been available.

Officers of the Traffic Department are making investigations into the accident.
