BASSTERRE, St. Kitts - The Head Coach of the St. Kitts and Nevis lauded  the team’s performance at the recently concluded CARIFTA Games held at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium, where the athletes gave the Federation its best ever medal haul.

In an interview with SKNVibes, Head Coach Donnell Esdaile hailed the athletes on their performance at the four-day meet.

"This has been the best performance for the St. Kitts-Nevis Team at the CARIFTA Games and I want to congratulate all the athletes and coaches that participated in the event."

He then singled out the U-18 4x400m team that won a bronze medal in that event.

"One of my favourite performances was in the 4x400m Under 18 Girls. Those girls ran with tremendous courage and tremendous heart and that was one of my favourite medals. Athough it was a bronze, I was excited that the united team was able to bring something home."

The coach declared that going forward the team needs to work on consistency and proper development structure.

"We got to try keeping these athletes together as a corps and adding on the edges and building from there.

"It is not about changing it as a country, we decided to build a diverse team rather than specifically on the sprints. There are some years that we would have high performance, but we are trying to build a programme with all disciplines to make a well-rounded team."
