Canadian opportunities for skilled workers in SKN

By: Loshaun Dixon, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SKILLED workers of St. Kitts and Nevis are being afforded the opportunity to live and work in Canada; an initiative of the Canadian Government.

This disclosure was made last week at a seminar held at the Marriott Resort for individuals who are interested in moving to Canada to work and become residents.

In an interview with SKNVibes, Renee Stevens, one of the organisers of the seminar, indicated that the event exceeded their expectation.

"It was very good! We anticipated about 75 persons and we had over 170. So it was really good and we also had one-on-one consultations."

She then gave an overview of the seminar.

"It was called Express Entry Seminar. It a new process the Government of Canada just opened in an effort to get skilled workers in Canada as they are very short staffed in that specific field.

"So once you are skilled you can become a resident of Canada and right away enjoy the same benefits of Canadians with job opportunities."

She also indicated that the process is globally opened.

"The process right now is open for about six months and this is opened to everybody around the world. It is very fast and my goal was to get the people of St. Kitts and Nevis on board so they can take advantage of the opportunities."

Stevens added that all one has to do is to complete an assessment form and the information of the individual would be assessed to see if they are qualified and fit under that specific category and what their chances are.

"Even if you don't fit under the skills category you have an opportunity to come into Canada as a foreign worker on a two-year contract and work for a specific employer."
