BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A young all-rounder from St. Kitts and Nevis is currently in England to play cricket and is seeking to build on his strong performances in that country last year, where he impressed while on a short tour.

In the summer of 2014, Larry Audain of Upper Cayon had travelled to England with the Fire and Rescue Sports Club to play in a series of games. His performance with both bat and ball was impressive, scoring 263 runs in four innings at an average of 131.50 and picking up nine wickets.

He has since returned to England where he will spend the next six months playing cricket in Leeds, while also earning a salary.

Speaking with SKNVibes, Audain gave details about where he would be playing cricket and for which club.

“I'll be playing for the North Leeds Cricket Team in the Airedale & Wharfedale Cricket League and I will be staying in Leeds, Chapletown.”

Audain stated how he plans to build on his performance from last year and identified the weather as his biggest challenges during his first season.

“I'm looking to take it to a different level in terms of being consistent for my club and by helping them to go a long way in the tournament as they newly got promoted to the top division, courtesy of their strong performance last season in which they placed second.

“I want to continue doing the basics and sticking to what worked for me so well on my last trip. I think one of the toughest challenges will be the weather and trying to acclimatise as quickly as possible, bearing in mind it can get seriously cold at any given time.”

Audain also stated what he hopes to achieve for the season.

“I'm looking to get 700-plus runs for the season and being able to contribute with the ball as well by picking up at least 25 wickets…achieving my personal goals and also helping my team to win the league or finish in the top four and I'm well on my way to say I had a successful maiden season in England.”

The 22-year-old has represented the Leeward Islands U-19 as well as the St. Kitts Senior National Team.
