Cayon shooting victim name released

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE name of the man killed early this morning (Apr. 19) in Upper Cayon was given as Jeffery Daniel, who was also known as ‘Rownie’.

    Speaking this afternoon with this publication, Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David said that members of the Violent Crime Unit are currently making investigation into the homicide, but no one has so far been arrested.

    He however requested that anyone who has information pertaining to this shooting incident should call “the Violent Crime Unit at 467-1886, 467-1887, 662-9336, the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS. Remember, you do not have to provide your personal information and you may be eligible to receive a reward”.

    According to reports, sometime after mid-night while on the verandah of his Water Works, Upper Cayon home, the 42-year-old Daniel was shot multiple times to various parts of the body, including his chest, by two unidentified assailants.

    He was pronounced dead at the scene by a District Medical Officer and investigators were seen collecting a number of spent shells in the vicinity of the crime.

    Jeffrey ‘Rownie’ Daniel’s death has taken to 14 the number of murders committed in the Federation for this year; four on Nevis and 10 on St. Kitts.
