Candy Resort Press Release

Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams giving opening remarks
Press Release

April 21st, 2015  --  In what can be succinctly put as a very well attended activity, on Friday April 18th, Liburd’s Estate on the Western side of Nevis saw the official ground breaking ceremony for the HTRIP Candy Resort Development. The event, which was held on the beach front, had over 75 persons witnessing the first of several Developments that the Investment Group intends to bring to Nevis.  Present were Representatives from both the Federal and Local Governments, including Ministers, Permanent and Cabinet Secretaries, House Speakers, Directors, and other key officials from both the Private and Public sectors.

The Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams opened the proceedings by registering that a Development such as the HTRIP Candy Resort, so strategically placed in what can be seen as the rural area in Nevis, will create the type of “Buzz” required to bring several benefits not only to Nevis, but also for the residents of the Windward extremity of the island.

The Hon. Shawn Richards, Deputy Prime Minister for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis also gave remarks.   After Richards relayed warm wishes and congratulations from his colleagues in the Federal Cabinet from St. Kitts, he went on to commend the Ministers from the Nevis Island Administration for their unwavering dedication toward making Nevis a global brand.  Richards lauded the NIA for its sustained efforts “to forge international relationships that will serve to accrue financial, social, cultural and numerous other benefits for Nevis.”

In giving comments, the Hon. Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier of Nevis, began by educating the audience on the fact that the still-standing residential structure and property on which the HTRIP Candy Resort will be built were once owned by the internationally-acclaimed Actress, Ms. Lauren Hutton.  Mr. Brantley also thanked the Investment Company for selecting Nevis and for the opportunities that it will usher in for the island.

The HTRIP Management Team was represented by Mr. Jian Li, CEO and General Manager of HTRIP, and 1st Director of Caribbean Development Consultant Ltd.  Mr. Li reported that, “HTRIP will develop three projects in Nevis. The Candy Resort is the first one. It is located on 4.4 acres of land and will cost US $20 million dollars. The project will provide Nevisians with many jobs, and when it is completed, it will add further to Nevis as an Investment Destination. The other two projects will be at Dascent Hill in St. Georges and Potworks in St. James. We will complete the Candy Resort by December 2016.”

Mr. Li also took a few minutes to expound on why Nevis was selected as the venue for these Developments.  He stated that, “When we were looking for a location for this venture, we decided that Nevis is ideal, because the people are friendly, the island is peaceful and beautiful, the economy is stable, and as a second home, Nevis is attractive.”

Mr. Li’s comments were well received by the audience who applauded him and his Team for their confidence in Nevis and the fact that they would be investing on a long-term basis. After the speeches, the audience moved closer to the ocean’s edge, where the symbolic ground breaking ritual was conducted by the Hon. Mark Brantley, Mr. Li, and Ms. Terrelah Byron, a local who serves as one of the Office Executives of HTRIP and Caribbean Development Consultant Ltd.  The construction phase is slated to start in May, 2015.

Subsequently, refreshments were enjoyed by all as the attendees socialized and got a chance to engage the investors one-on-one.
