BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Fire and Rescue team, Emergency Medical Services and members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force rushed to the scene of an accident earlier today (Apr. 23) where two individuals were reportedly extricated from one of the vehicles and transported to the hospital.

The incident, SKNVibes understands, occurred at about 11:30 a.m. along the F. T. Williams Highway near what is known as the Airport Roundabout.

According to information coming from the Traffic Department, two vehicles were involved in the crash, one of which was parked at the time of impact.

Bret Stevens of Frigate Bay was operating motor pickup PA6297, which was stationary on the mountain side of the road, when motorcar P896 driven by Dijon Hanley of Shadwell which was travelling from west to east collided with the pickup after the driver reportedly lost control of it.

SKNVibes understands that the two occupants of the car had to be extricated from it and they, along with the driver of the pickup, were taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.

This publication also understands from information emanating from the Traffic Department that Hanley remained in hospital while the other two were discharged.

The Traffic Department continues to appeal to motorists for them to be mindful of the speed limit – 40 mph in non-built up areas and 20 mph in built up areas – and to be aware of and drive in accordance with road conditions.

“The life you save might be your own”, a representative of the Department reminded.
