Cherry Garden youth injured in traffic accident

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – IN what can be truly described as a community effort, a young man was rescued from an almost unrecognizable vehicle which was involved in a mid-afternoon accident today (Apr. 26).

The incident took place at New River and information reaching this publication suggests that the victim is one Marvin Ross of Cherry Garden, Nevis and that he was the sole occupant of the vehicle P5689.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear to this publication. However, according to a report carried by Nevis Pages.com, Ross may have lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a bridge in that area.

The report further indicated that rescue effort was intricate in nature owing to the precarious position in which the vehicle had stopped; a portion of it was hanging over a ghaut.

With the assistance of a truck, a crane and a backhoe which, according to Nevis Pages, was being operated by Shawn Simmonds of the Public Works Department, as well as the Fire and Rescue Services with their ‘Jaws of Life’, community members and Emergency Medical Technicians, the vehicle, which was wrapped around a piece of concrete, was pulled onto the road and Ross removed therefrom.

He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, although it is not clear how serious they are and what condition he is in.

The authorities are reportedly making investigations into the incident.
