SKNFA takes top leagues to Charlestown, Nevis this weekend

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, 8th May 2015 – The National Bank Premier League shifts to Charlestown, Nevis, on Saturday, when the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association hosts 

     

    “The objective behind this initiative has been to help promote and grow the sport on Nevis. The response has been excellent in the past, and we believe we are going to have a great turn-out at this time again,” said Jacobs.

     

    The SKNFA double-header will take place at the Elquemedo Willett Park. At 5 p.m., the Division-1 play-off match between Bath FC of Nevis and Rivers of Living Waters out of St. Kitts. The Division 1 playoffs will determine the teams that will be promoted to the Premier Division next season.

     

    At 7 p.m., the highlight of the evening, the Premier League match-up between Village Superstars and Garden Hotspurs, will get on the way.

     

    According to SKNFA Secretary-General Stanley Jacobs, the holding of matches in Nevis is part of the process of promoting the game in Nevis.

     

    “Nevis is traditionally a cricket–loving island, but we believe that it is important for football to have as many people as possible to expand the sport in the federation, because by having more players in Nevis, we will have a wider pool of players to select from for national players and teams. The initiative, therefore, was designed for growth and development of football in the federation.

     

    Persons in St. Kitts who wish to see the games have to transportation choices. Caribe Queen departs the ferry terminal at 4 p.m., Saturday, and leaves Nevis a half-hour after the event. Regular fare applies.

     

    For those who want a party atmosphere, the choice would be the Party Boat that leaves Port Zante at 4 p.m., and departs Nevis a half-hour after the last match. Fare: $60 round-trip that includes park admission.
