BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A female hotel worker from St. Kitts and Nevis is among a group of finalist for a top tourism award in Canada.

Irma Williams, a native of St. Paul's, was nominated for the prestigious ‘You're Welcome Award’ in Edmonton.

In an exclusive interview with SKNVibes, Williams explained the process of the award.

"It is a nomination for excellent customer service, recognising those who had excellent customer service in the Edmonton area.

"It is 18 individuals in the guest service sector and they got nominated and have to go through an interview to decide whether or not you make it into the finals."

She is a guest service agent at Courtyard Marriott Edmonton West.

Williams also indicated that she was selected as a finalist for the awards ceremony that would take place tomorrow (May 13).

"I have already gotten my interview and I was selected as a finalist.”

She further indicated what winning the award would mean to her.

"I am overwhelmed! It is a very prestigious award and, to even think that I have reached to the finals to get this award, it is overwhelming.

"I will be able to be an ambassador to my city, to my country and to my hotel."

Each year the You’re Welcome Edmonton programme celebrates outstanding customer service and recognises 18 special individuals as the stars of the tourism industry.
