By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AN argument on The Strip, Frigate Bay reportedly escalated into an altercation which left a young man with a stab wound and hospitalized.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning (May 16) when, according to Press and Public Relations Officer for the Police Force Inspector Lyndon David, individuals in the area were trying to board a passenger bus which was to have transported them to Basseterre.

“The incident occurred sometime after 5:00 a.m. A number of persons were trying to get on a passenger bus in Frigate Bay, on the Strip, when an argument occurred. As a result of the argument, the victim and another person ended up in an altercation where the victim was stabbed in the abdomen.”

He informed that the wounded man was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital via the same vehicle which persons there were attempting to board. He also indicated that the man is warded there.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the victim had to undergo emergency surgery as a result of the wound he suffered.

Inspector David said a suspect is in police custody and he is “assisting with investigations” into the incident.
