Scotiabank hosts small business seminar

Press Release
St. Kitts, May 8, 2015 – Several entrepreneurs are now better equipped to run their companies following a small business seminar held recently by Scotiabank.

Presentations offering tips on accounting, record-keeping and personal financial planning were shared at the seminars held at the Nirvana Restaurant at  Fairview Great House.

Chartered accountant Mr.  Dridnauth M. (Amar) Gossai,  Partner, Lanns-Monish & Associates, advised business owners on how they could avoid some of the common pitfalls that plague smaller businesses - such as poor accounting and financial record-keeping. During his presentation titled, The Benefits of Book-Keeping, Gossai  pointed out that a lack of financial records impairs a company from qualifying for financing and hence stifles its growth potential.

The audience of business professionals was introduced to the Scotia Professional Plan (SPP) by Scotiabank’s Business Banking Manager, Veon Blake.  The Plan is an enhanced financial services package designed specifically to meet the needs of independent professionals such as doctors, lawyers, dentists and architects.

In explaining the rationale for the seminar, Mr. Blake said that even amidst the prevailing economic challenges “Scotiabank believes that economic growth can be stimulated by the small business sector. He added, “We think that by educating our small business customers, we give them the tools to create a more robust and profitable small business sector – which benefits us all.”
