BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TEACHERS and students at the Cayon High School arrived to a wet morning as the staffroom of the learning institution was believed to have been perpetrated by vandals early today (May 18).
A police source indicated to this publication that the perpetrator or perpetrators had smashed one of the windows of the staffroom, took a hose which is in proximity and soaked the entire staffroom, resulting in damage to a number of items including books and desks.
It was also indicated to SKNVibes that a Guinness bottle was used to break the window of the staffroom and a Skol bottle was used to smash a window at the Library and Resource Center.
Officers at the Cayon Police station are investigating the matter.
SKNVibes also visited the school where the teachers were embarked on a cleanup programme and had placed some in the sun to dry.
In an attempt to get a comment on the vandalism, Principal of the School Adison James stated that he preferred this media house first speak to his superiors before he would say anything.
However, calls to the Ministry of Education were unsuccessful.
