BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PATRONS of this year’s Green Valley Festival are in for a treat as the calendar for the annual event will include a DJ Sound Clash in tribute to a former stalwart and a Band Clash that is expected to produce a very high level of competition.
In an interview with SKNVibes yesterday (May 19), Chairman of the Green Valley Festival Committee Jerome Isaac disclosed that the DJ Sound Clash would pay tribute to former Green Valley DJ Raziel 'DJ Graggy' Paris who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident earlier this year.
"The Sound Clash was added because of Raziel. He used to help us with ‘dejaying’ and we decided to do a tribute," Isaac said, adding that the Sound Clash would feature all of the top DJs from Cayon.
He stated that the festival would also host a Band Clash on Sunday (May 24) which would feature all the major bands in St. Kitts and Nevis.
"For the Band Clash, we are having the three big bands - Nu Vybes, Small Axe, Grand Masters – and Sugar Bowl, Outlaw along with others."
Isaac highlighted some of the events that had already been completed for this year’s Festival.
"We had an island-wide motorcade on Saturday. It was very successful! And we had the Kids Day and Elderly Gala on Sunday as well as Basketball and Netball Competitions last night."
He also highlighted events on the calendar which are yet to be completed.
"Tonight (May 19) is Cohesion Night when we will march through the streets of Cayon with the bull troupe, Hi FIs and we will have some placards asking people to support Green Valley and stop the violence. On Thursday we will have the Opening Night and Friday we will have the Queen Show.
"Saturday we will be having a Sound Clash with the different DJs from Green Valley in honour of Raziel Paris and Sunday we go to Keys for our annual Beach Bash. Then we will be having the Band Clash later with the three big bands, J’Ouvert on Monday and we will be closing off with the Parade of Troupes."
Isaac is encouraging the public to come out and enjoy the Green Valley Festival.
"I just want everybody to come out and enjoy themselves and party with love for Green Valley."
The theme for the 2015 Green Valley Festival is "Set Up U Self".
