BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (SKNABA) is still hopeful of achieving an indoor facility for the sports discipline and claimed it has received assurances that one would be constructed shortly.

In an interview with SKNVibes, General Secretary of SKNABA Wallis Wilkin indicated that they had completed some minor work at the current facility, but nothing major in anticipation of a new one.

"We did some minor enhancements to the facility, thanks to the intervention of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Sports. We were able to replace some of the seating."

He indicated that discussions were held with Minister of Sports Hon. Shawn Richards who promised them a new facility.

"However, we were very particular in not pursuing a very large scale in terms of that facility at this point, because the intention is after discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister it seems likely that there is a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of an indoor facility.

"The Government has assured that they are pursuing an indoor facility that will house basketball, volleyball and netball. They hope to begin shortly and we are looking forward to that."

Basketball is scheduled to run from April to September, but due to the perennial weather situation it normally ends in October.
