BVI, 3 June 2015 - Twenty-two polling stations will be in use on Election Day to service the 13,585 registered voters in the Territory.
Additionally, four districts will see an increase in polling stations as two lines will be used at the same venue. Voters with surnames beginning from A to M will vote at polling station number one while voters with surnames N to Z, will vote at polling station number two at that polling division. This will occur in districts three, four, six, and eight.
In District 3, voters will vote at the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School and not at the Valerie O. Thomas Community Centre to accommodate the dual-polling stations that will be implemented. The school will also serve as a counting station.
Supervisor of Elections Ms. Juliette Penn met with the candidates and their representatives yesterday to share this information which is expected to alleviate the long lines and ensure a smoother process on Election Day.
On Election Day, the polls will open from 6:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. Persons in line at 6:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote. However, no one will be allowed to join the line after 6:00 p.m.
