BVI, 3 June 2015 - The Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies will host a series of meetings and activities for teachers, parents and students from June 15 to 19.

As part of these activities, parents and guardians are notified that a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting will be held on the school’s grounds at Baugher’s Bay on Tuesday, June 16, at 4:30 p.m.

Administrators at the school have stated that in an effort to complete existing student records, parents are asked to bring a copy of their student’s birth certificate, or any other documentation that identifies the student as a BVIslander, Belonger or legal resident of the Virgin Islands, such as a passport or Belonger’s Card.

The school will also host an open house and pre-registration session for current Grade 9 parents and students on Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

Acting Principal, Ms. Germaine Scatliffe said, “We are encouraging all Grade 9 parents and students in the Territory to attend these opportunities to learn more about what the school has to offer.”

Ms Scatliffe said administrators will also travel to Virgin Gorda on Friday, June 19, where they will make a presentation to parents and students of Grade 9 of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Acting Principal added that parents who are interested in pre-registering their students for the 2016 school year are advised to bring copies of the student’s current school transcript and a birth certificate or any other documentation that identifies the student as a BVIslander, Belonger or legal resident of the Virgin Islands.

The Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies provides access to technical vocational education and training at the secondary level consistent with regional and international standards. The school offers programmes such as cosmetology, culinary arts and hospitality, home economics, auto mechanics and construction.
