CIBC FirstCaribbean Continues Unwavering Support for Junior Achievement Program

By: CIBC, Press Release

    Nurturing Caribbean Communities

Basseterre, 18 June, 2015  --  “CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank has been one of the unwavering supporters of the Junior Achievement Program over the years and we appreciate the bank’s significant contribution to the May 2015 Trade Fair.” So says Ms Tracey Herbert, Executive Director, Junior Achievement St Kitts and Nevis.

According to Mrs G Diane Francis, Manager, Retail Banking & Operations and Country Lead, CIBC FirstCaribbean: “Since the inception of Junior Achievement (JA) in St. Kitts and Nevis in 2004, CIBC FirstCaribbean has demonstrated its commitment to nurturing our Caribbean communities, through continuous sponsorship and involvement.”

The Junior Achievement Programme was designed to create a pool of potential employees who understand, first hand, the difficulties of management; having created a business from the ground up, applying for management and other positions, and then having to act in the various capacities for the success of the business.

210 students from seven (7) high schools participated in the 2014-2015 cycle of the JA Company Programme.

Sponsorship of the Junior Achievement Programme is one of the many programmes initiated by CIBC FirstCaribbean, throughout the region, to reach out into communities and make a difference. Other programmes include the Adopt-a–Cause staff volunteerism programme, a variety of scholarships throughout the region, the Caribbean Association of Youth Business Programme – which supports the development of entrepreneurship among Caribbean youth - and the bank’s Memorandum of Understanding with the University of the West Indies.
