BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN just a few hours, the curtains of the 19th St. Kitts Music Festival will be lifted and the excitement, hype and readiness crescendo with artistes promising to “bring it”, “turn up” and transform St. Kitts into “vagabond city” will be witnessed at the Warner Park Football Stadium.

This morning (Jun. 25), the first of the press conferences – hosted by Clement O’Garro - for the event was held at the St. Kitts Marriott’s St. Vincent Room with most of the artistes making appearances and promises to put their best foot forward in pleasing the Music Fest crowd.

The Thursday night opening is usually referred to as ‘De Wuk-up Night’ because it chocks full of Soca goodness from beginning to end. But, this year, the mix is slightly different, although it still promises waist-moving vibrations.

When the curtains are finally raised, fans are in for a tremendous treat from Roy Cape All Stars, the ‘Vagabond’ singer Ricardo Drue, Blaxx, ‘A Little Wine’ singer Patrice Roberts, the ‘Phenomenal’ singer Benjai, Kerwin Du Bois, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Small Axe Band, Mr. Bagnall and Odisi Band as well as the Dominican Republic’s Tono Rosario and T-Vice of Haiti.

Most patrons have already made up their mind to attend the event but, for those who did not, the artistes made compelling promises to bring a collective excitement, sexiness, excellent performances, energy, hype and much more.

The line-up is said to be stacked with “A+” and “best of the best” artistes, and Minister of Tourism the Hon. Lindsay Grant promised that this evening would be “an exceptionally fun event”.

Grant said the first night of the Festival has historically been labelled the “jump up night” but he has renamed it.

“In the past we have labelled Thursday night performances as the jump up night, but tonight I think it will be the Caribbean Party night and we Kittitians and Nevisians have to come out and to represent tonight…”

Tickets bought, flags ready, rags ready, outfits sorted out…and all roads lead to Warner Park for the first night of the 19th edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival!

    Are you ready?
