BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 26th, 2015 -- The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow saw the twinning of schools in the Commonwealth just as it was done for the 2012 London Olympics. Team St. Kitts was able to meet the students and parents of the Athelstaneford Primary School in Clackmannanshire, Glasgow and exchange the Baton from its twin school the Beach Allen Primary.
Athelstaneford then exchanged its Baton with Team St. Kitts. One of the athletes of Team St. Kitts was Brijesh Lawrence, our Bronze Medalist in the World 200m Relay, was a student at the Beach Allen and took ownership to the ceremony. He stated emphatically that he will be the one to make the exchange whenever he returned to St. Kitts.
That chance did arrive on Friday 19th June when Brijesh got the opportunity to present the Baton from Athelstaneford Primary School to the Principal of the Beach Allen Primary
Brijesh Lawrence also took the time to speak to the students about the importance of education and athletics as a team for success. His visit to the school coincide with the school's celebration of one of its teachers who will be retiring shortly. He was able to present her with a token as she, Mrs Emeley Beaupierre was one of his teachers.
Brijesh Lawrence has pledge to work with the school where ever and when ever he can,. He was accompanied at the school by the Chef de mission , Mr Leroy Green.
