Police officer's son dies in traffic accident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A senior member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force lost his son in a traffic accident which occurred yesterday afternoon (Jul. 22) SKNVibes has confirmed.

     

    The incident took place in Cotton Ground, Nevis and according to reports, the victim is Shaquille Bertie of Paradise, Nevis.

     

    Information which this publication has gleaned suggests that Bertie was travelling on a motorcycle from Cades Bay’s direction to that of Jessup’s via the Cotton Ground main road, when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a utility pole.

     

    Further information suggests that upon impact, he was flung from the motorcycle, over a fence and ended in a yard.

     

    He was reportedly transported to the Alexandra Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

     

    The victim is the son of Inspector Conrad Bertie.

     

    Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
