BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ACTING Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd has extended condolences to one of his senior officers, Inspector Conrad Bertie, on the unfortunate passing of his son Shaquille.

Shaquille Bertie died tragically yesterday afternoon (Jul. 22) in Nevis after losing control of the motorcycle he was riding and slamming into a utility pole.

“On behalf of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, we extend condolences to Inspector Bertie and his family regarding the loss of his son who died as a result of a traffic accident that occurred at Cotton Ground,” the COP (Ag) said.

He added that the loss is a significant one, given the tender age of the deceased.

“I believe it must be a severe blow to Inspector Bertie and his family, because to lose a young man who is just about 21 years of age or thereabout, who has not yet lived his life to the fullest is a blow.”

Liburd indicated that Shaquille’s death is the second road fatality to have occurred in Nevis, noting that both victims were young men.

Four road fatalities have been recorded within the Federation for the year.
