BVI, 23 July 2015 - With one week to go, Acting Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick Pickering is calling on the BVI community to continue to participate in the Firearm and Offensive Weapons Amnesty, an initiative spearheaded by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
“It is important that we all do our part to ensure that these Virgin Islands remain safe. I, therefore, join with the rest of the community in appealing to persons to turn over any prohibited weapons in their possession to the Police by July 30, no questions asked,” Acting Premier said.
He added, “I support the gun amnesty campaign. It provides an avenue for mitigating gun related crimes. It is also a way and an opportunity for us to ensure that the Territory continues to be seen as the ideal place to live, work, visit and to do business. We are building a ‘Great Little Nation’ for generations to come. ”
The Acting Premier is congratulating RVIPF for doing its part to ensure a crime-free Virgin Islands.
