Craft Alive Village Vendors Host First Craft Show

    BVI, 24 July 2015 - Vendors in the Craft Alive Village are showcasing their locally made products today at the first craft show to be held at that location.

     

    The craft show, is a collaborative effort between the Office of the City Manager, the BVI Tourist Board and the Craft Alive Village vendors, designed to showcase local talent.  The craft show will run until Sunday, July 26 and begins at 10:00 a.m. each day.

    City Manager, Mrs. Janice Braithwaite-Edwards described the craft show as a unique opportunity for the vendors to showcase their products to the public. She said the show is an

    Mrs. Braithwaite-Edwards also stated that the initiative which is spearheaded by the business operators in the village, will only display local hand-made products by the different merchants.

    She said, “The vendors felt that they should have a local craft show leading up to festival, and included in the craft show are only things that were created locally. So they will not be using any imported items.”

    Mrs. Braithwaite-Edwards added that outside vendors will not be included in the show, as it is for the benefit of the vendors who operate in the village.

    The public will be offered a variety of items and souvenirs indigenous to the Virgin Islands such as leather goods, embroidery, clothing items, local cuisine and other hand-made products.                                                    

    There will also be local entertainment for the weekend long event. The public is encouraged to come out and support the local businesses. There are about 70 vendors in the Craft Alive village. They have confirmed that their businesses will be open during the festival season.
